Fair trade, Fair prices, Fair Anita
We as consumers have the ability to make social statements and change by thinking about where and how we spend our money. Even something as small as the necklace or bracelet you are wearing can have a positive or impact on others and the earth. You can either promote worker inequality or demote it. When you spend your dollar you can promote in-humane working conditions, cheap labor, and heavy use on natural resources, or, you can choose to be intentional with your purchasing. Knowing where your goods actually come from and how they are being produced. I work hard for my money and I want to spend it in a way that I can enjoy surely, but also in a way that gives back to society and the planet.
Fair Anita is a social enterprise that exists to create opportunities for women and girls, selling trendy (and affordable!) fair trade products that are made by over 8,000 women in 16 different countries. Fair Anita works with economically stifled women and provides then with an opportunity to work in humane conditions, getting paid fair wages, and provides them with long-term employment and business opportunities and development.
They strive to pay artisans at least three-times the minimum wage, which generates income for women to help them respond to violent gender dynamics in their community. Providing them with more paths to economic independence. In turn helping to empower thousands of women and become leaders in their community.
What's not to love about fair trade and fair priced jewelry?I'm so glad I don't have to be tempted by places like Target just to find cheap prices and cheap products. Fair Anita can provide women with competitive wages for their artisan ship, while making their unique pieces affordable for just about anyone. If shopping with Fair Anita, you'll surely find one of a kind pieces that reflect geography and culture of the Artisans behind them. They truly put their money where their mouth is, women supporting women.
